All I Possess

Leaving behind false traditions in search of the true Jesus

How Did Jesus Create?

A few days ago, I posed the question “What did Jesus create?” and today I’d like to discuss how.

In LDS theology, God cannot create out of nothing. He reorganized the elements to bring forth new “creations.” He only creates the way a sculptor or painter would create: by taking existing materials and then using them to fashion something new.

I’ve been taught this my whole life.

“God works by scientific law,” they said. “Matter cannot be created or destroyed.”

It sounded so academic and scientific! I thought I was so smart, being in this scientific religion.

Orson F. Whitney said it pretty clearly (and I’m barfing as I type this): “The dogma that the earth was made out of nothing is an attempt to glorify Deity by ascribing to him the power to perform the impossible – to do which cannot be done.”

Oh I’m so sorry! I can’t believe Christians think God can perform the impossible! He only raised the dead.

What dogma is Elder Whitney referring to? You mean this dogma?—

“The universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that were visible.” (Hebrews 11:3)

“You created all things and by your will they were created and have their being.” (Revelation 4:11)

I’d like to see a human artist create something using only their will.

Once again, the Mormon church has been proven wrong just by a simple perusal of the scriptures.

Why are they so intent on making God not special, not all powerful, not eternal, and not glorious? It’s mind blowing.
