Weird Mormon thought of the week #1
Yeah, you’ll think this is weird. But follow my logic.
As I attended the LDS temple pretty much every day it was open, fall 2023, God began to point things out to me. I went there to seek Him and be close to Him, so naturally He showed up. But I wasn’t expecting this as his method to draw close to me.
You see, it seemed like every time I went, I’d walk out with a new random question.
Doubts began accumulating…
It began one day when it hit me that I was making covenants as proxy for a dead person, a spirit in the spirit world. We were covenanting to be chaste and to give money to the church, among other things that are impossible for post-mortem spirits to do.
Well that doesn’t make any sense.
And then the next week I sat in the initiatory and asked “Why are we washing someone when they’ve already been baptized? So we do the New Testament version of being clean, and then we do the Old Testament version of being clean? Not only was that redundant, it was backwards.
Well, that doesn’t make any sense.
But then the big day came when my mind was really twisted.
I sat watching the video of the “presentation of the endowment.” Satan was trying to persuade Eve to partake of the forbidden fruit. She pauses, looks to heaven, and realizes with such newfound wisdom yes, I need to partake! This is so man may be! I am to know good and evil so I can progress to be a God!
You know how we always say we could never be exalted without Jesus?
Well technically, according to the temple and pro-Eve narrative, we could never be exalted without Lucifer!!
Because God needed Satan to put the idea in Eve’s head!
Without Lucifer in the Garden, Adam and Eve could never be tempted and could never consider this “higher wisdom” in contradiction to what God had clearly told them.
So, if it was wise to partake, then Lucifer is the champion.
God told them not to, Lucifer told them to do it, and Eve decided Lucifer held the superior wisdom.
Mormons owe just as much praise and honor to Lucifer as they do to Jesus. They couldn’t go home without the atonement but they also couldn’t be exalted without populating the earth, making mortal children, knowing good and evil, which they only thought to do because of Lucifer’s wise council.
Let that sink in.
