All I Possess

Leaving behind false traditions in search of the true Jesus

The Bible is Incomplete?

Did Paul preach only the tip of the iceberg? Was his gospel as he taught incomplete?

Maybe the endowment ceremony and eternal marriage just didn’t make it into his teachings.

Really?

You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house…Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you. For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God” (Acts 20:20, 26-27)

He goes on to say:

“I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard!” (verses 29-31)

And later:

I may indeed be untrained as a speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way.” (2 Cor 11:6)

Peter also verifies that this is the complete gospel, as written in his book as well:

We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:19-21)

After attending The Well with me for a few months, my husband shook hands with our lead pastor and remarked, “is it really that simple??”

Yes. It really is.

The gospel is that Jesus, God Himself, put on flesh to live as a man. He became the final sacrifice to pay for all sin, drawing the Law of Moses to a close. He offers us His righteousness and His works to cover us at judgment day. By His grace, we are saved, by faith alone lest anyone would boast. He rose from the grave and continued to speak to his apostles who would prophesy on His name, to spread this message throughout the world.

That’s it.

It’s really that simple.
