All I Possess

Leaving behind false traditions in search of the true Jesus

When Jesus Goes Missing

Last week I attended the LDS ward where we live. The two speakers, husband and wife, spoke on loneliness and joy respectively. They did a great job, if it were some sort of corporate self-help conference. Because neither talk was religious.

Neither he nor she even mentioned Jesus once! Not a single scripture quoted!

A talk about loneliness that didn’t mention turning to God for comfort.

A talk about joy that didn’t mention Jesus Christ, the giver of all joy.

I’ve posted about issues with lay clergy being boring and random before.

But apparently I forgot to mention the risk of hearing something completely secular. At church.

Then today the Bishop spoke about a secular group going to do a secular service project. That we should serve other people. Again, this just sounded like any self-help speaker at a non religious function!

There are literally secular churches that exist to do this. They give you inspiring be-a-good-person, deal-with-life messages that don’t mention God.

Shouldn’t the “one and only true church of Jesus Christ” be different??

I don’t know, maybe this is asking a lot. 🤷‍♀️

Here’s a conversation with us comparing LDS church services with our non denominational church:
