Haleigh says it so well. Just listen to her.
In the spring when I was consuming a lot of Hello Saints videos, I would usually comment and put up my thoughts defending or explaining the Mormon church.
My defense mechanism was on overdrive trying to protect me, trying to stay connected to my husband and family, and trying to hold onto all the pieces of Mormonism I was still able to.
But one day Jeff said something I will never forget:
“For Mormons, Jesus is a means to an end.”
Holy crap.
Jaw on the floor.
He was right.
I couldn’t believe this.
The big idea of Mormonism is eternal families. The penultimate goal of Mormonism is to be sealed in an eternal marriage and be Gods together.
Jesus is the means to the end.
Now, Mormons will quote Moses 1:39 (just that extra part of the Bible someone made up) that says this goal is God’s own goal. His entire purpose is to see that I become a God too.
So for Mormons, the best way to worship God is to serve yourself.
No, literally.
Ask what they do to worship God, and the answer is probably “go to the temple.”
Never once in the temple do they sing praise to God. It’s not about His glory.
It’s about their glory.
Sorry, but no.
When I learned how to worship God, I realized what was wrong here. And I got out.
“Eternal marriage” is an idol. Becoming Gods is completely sacrilegious.
