I had the wonderful opportunity last night to praise God with some new friends, in a different language, and to share my conversion story with them.
It was such a beautiful thing.
Their testimonies are powerful. Their light was shining bright—La luz en sus corazones.
It’s the light from Jesus Christ, that is common among the body of Christ regardless of denomination.
But I really think it was extra special at this church.
It was really special to see Roberto share a short message with so much passion. If we are full of joy and excitement about Jesus, we can’t help but to share that with others!
And that’s exactly what I did.
I told them about how amazing Jesus is, and how special it has been for me to come to know Him anew—for who He truly is—
How I value that, and celebrate and praise every day!
I spoke to them about my awakening processes and coming out of Mormonism. I shared my love of the Book of Mormon and the interesting irony of doctrines it teaches and warnings it gives —to those reading it and calling it scripture.
I told them how missions work, and how our youth want so badly to be good, to do their duty, and to share their testimonies. I asked them to interact kindly and be curious, to have thoughtful, kind discussions with the Mormon missionaries.
We talked about baptism, works for dead, and grace for those who didn’t know about Jesus in this life.
And we talked about families. How God works with families and brings light to each person as they are ready.
This was a fantastic night for 2 reasons:
(1) Feeling such passion, unity and light in a way I haven’t felt at the Mormon church since … girls camp(?) if ever.
(2) Feeling so confident and secure in my purpose— speaking, testifying and connecting in the Christian world.
What I did last night is apostasy.
I taught against the Mormon church.
I could be excommunicated for this (and for this blog) —
And I would do it a thousand more times.
This is my mission.
I would give all I possess for Jesus.
