All I Possess

Leaving behind false traditions in search of the true Jesus

His Arm Never Tires

I want to revisit this story of Moses needing support, needing help holding up his tiring arms so that power could be manifest through him.

In the LDS/Mormon church, this story is used to show that prophets need support. They can’t do it alone; we need to sustain them and hold them up.

The first problem with this concept is that the church no longer follows it! We are never told to support the Brethren; we are told merely to obey. These are actually opposites! It’s one thing to say they are weak and can’t do their job alone; it’s quite another to say they are Godly, Holy, never make mistakes, and that we are then to put away all disagreements and fall in line.

The word “sustain,” which traditionally means to support, now means merely to acknowledge (as prophets, seers, and revelators) and obey.

The second problem with using the Moses story as an analogy for sustaining prophets is that this story was never meant to be about the man.

Indeed, the man was weak. The man was failing!

This story is about GOD. God is the only one who is powerful. Jesus is the only one who is worthy. We are to Look to HIM alone, for power, for strength, for leadership.

His arm never tires.

I was given this message through the song “Jehovah” by Elevation Worship. This is an empowering song focused on the strength that only Jesus gives.
