Leaving behind false traditions in search of the true Jesus

Book of Mormon: Judgment & Hell

As I read the Book of Mormon this year with new eyes, I began to notice so many places where it’s teaching Protestant doctrine, not LDS doctrine. Mind blowing!

One of the first things that really stood out to me in contrast was King Benjamin’s sermon.

“Every man [will be judged] according to his works, whether they be good, or whether they be evil. And if they be evil, they are consigned to an awful view of their own guilt and abominations…in misery and endless torment, from whence they can no more return; therefore, they have drunk damnation to their own souls…therefore, mercy could have claim on them no more forever. And their torment is a lake of fire and brimstone…forever and ever” (Mosiah 3:24-27).

I read this passage with wide eyes. In the LDS theology, wicked people to go the “Telestial Kingdom,” which is a glory of heaven (Yes, I realize now how ridiculous this sounds). But this passage in their very own scripture is the total opposite of that!

This is not describing “spirit prison,” which Mormons see as a temporary place for those who die without Christ, until they can repent. No, King Benjamin is describing a horrific place that is eternal (they cannot return from), not temporary!

Also note, this is not “sons of perdition,” another LDS concept of those who go to Hell. It says nothing about having a perfect knowledge of anything. This is about being judged for wicked works. According to LDS doctrine, evil people are saved in the Telestial kingdom which is supposedly far more glorious than earth. Clearly, this is contradictory!

Now let’s take a look at the sermon of Abinadi: “The Lord redeemeth none such that rebel against him and die in their sins…for salvation cometh to none such; for the Lord hath redeemed none such” (Mosiah 15:26-27).

And does Abinadi mention that they can repent later and those living on earth can be baptized for them? This sounds very contradictory. “He redeemeth none such.” And they’re in a place of endless torment “from when they can no more return.”

I’m sorry, Mormon friends, but the wicked are clearly not going to Heaven. This is from your own scripture, “the most correct book” on earth.

“And behold, others he flattereth away, and telleth them there is no hell” (2 Nephi 28:22)

So now that we’ve established that the wicked will be suffering endlessly and not return, check out this video to explain a little more! It all makes sense now.
